V for Vendetta

Director: James McTeigue
Rating: 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000/10

No, I haven't gone mad and yes, I am serious about the rating!
The British are highly underrated filmmakers and my love for the British people and their art of storytelling has grown even MORE! I am irrevocably and rather shamelessly in love with the British after this movie, not because of that adorable way they speak English, not because their stories and poems came to me before my own but because I am certain that no other country can make such a movie as this! It simply CANNOT be classified!

What is V for Vendetta, you ask me? What's its genre, you question? Haha. It's everything! It's a love story, a mystery, a comedy, an action thriller, a sci-fi. It is (using my favourite expression to describe a great movie) a perfect work of art and nothing short of poetry! For the 2 hours 7 minutes that I watched this, I was completely entranced, lost and consumed in the story! I have never watched anything as terrific and as mind-numbing before.

What was the plot, you ask me? Well, there was a biological warfare but better than the one in I Am Legend, there was a love story but better than those you have ever seen before, and above all there was V-a man, a mask, an idea, a revolution-all encapsulated into one figure with that deep, intriguing voice!

Now, let me start with how I came by this movie. I was at this declamation competition two years ago and one of my opponents quotes from the movie:

"Die! Die! Die....Why won't you die?"
"Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof."

This quote, had it not been there, wouldn't have brought me to this movie. Yet, it took me two years (one of them actually spent in England) to finally watch it and, let me tell you, I couldn't have watched it at a better time! My country is about to face elections and I need more than a government at the moment. I need hope. And more than anything, my government and country needs a revolution. It doesn't matter where it comes from or who brings it. What matters is, once it does (and yes, there'll be a LOT of chaos once it does) it will involve all of us-something, I learnt from this WONDERFUL movie!

Why should you watch it? Well, why shouldn't you? Can you really say no to a movie that will touch you in EVERY possible way a movie can affect a human being?
