Casablanca

Director: Michael Curtis
Rating 10/10

Call me a sucker for romance but if Casablanca doesn't bring tears in your eyes but Titanic made you reach out for a box of tissues, you sir (or madam) have
a taste very different from mine and it is quite likely, we'd get into an argument very soon! Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion and is free to hate what the other loves but what sort of a person would dislike Casablanca is slightly hard to conceive for me!

Based on a play called, 'Everybody Comes to Rick,' this is the story of an American expatriate, Rick, who owns a gambling den and who also provides fake papers and passports to anyone willing to escape the Nazi wrath. Business carries on as it should until, Rick comes face to face with the famous Victor Laszlo and his former flame, Ilsa, Victor's wife. As a chain of events and emotions unfold a fascinating, bittersweet tale of love, friendship, loyalty, betrayal and sacrifice, you're left with a lot more than a love story. A cache of  unforgettable quotes for starters!

Personal favourites among them would be:
"Here's looking at you, kid!"
"Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine."
"Play it, Sam. Play 'As Time Goes By'."

And yes, if you like this movie as much as I do, you'd be humming 'As Time Goes By' every now and then for the rest of your life!
